What is Advance Tax?
Advance Tax refers to the income tax paid in advance instead of a lump sum at year-end. If your tax liability exceeds ₹10,000 in a financial year (excluding salaried individuals under TDS coverage), you are required to pay tax in instalments on the due dates set by the Income Tax Department.
What is TDS Filing?
TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) is a system where tax is deducted at the point of income generation. Entities deducting tax are required to file quarterly TDS returns and deposit the tax with the government. These returns must accurately report deductee details, PAN, deducted amounts, and payment information.

Form 24Q – For TDS on salaries
Form 26Q – For TDS on all payments except salaries to Indian residents
Form 27Q – For TDS on payments to non-residents
Form 27EQ – For TCS (Tax Collected at Source)
Failure to pay advance tax or shortfall in payment results in interest under Sections 234B and 234C. The longer the delay, the higher the interest charged.

Penalty under Section 271H
Interest on late TDS deposit under Section 201(1A)
